When I think of living in an incubator it reminds me of when I was in kindergarten and we had to put chicken eggs in there and wait for them to hatch. What I’m really getting at here though is that the same concept can be applied to anyone who is currently working a job that they don’t like, but won’t quit because it pays the bills. A similar case could be that the job they are working is the only thing that is hiring considering the current recession. That may be true, but in most situations most people will settle for what they have and seize to take the opportunity to find something that truly satisfies them. Such an attitude is similar to living in an incubator because you are working a job that you don’t like, which is the incubator. Then once you’ve let your whole life pass you and you finally retire, then you start living. Retirement is considered to be the hatching point.
Why wait till retirement to start living your life or to start doing what you really want. In retirement you are still going to have bills and if your retirement checks aren’t enough to get by, I guess Wal-Mart is always hiring greeters. My point here is that we as people should get paid to do what we love and not settle for what pays the bills. Just think how much happier this world would be if everyone was doing what they loved. I’ve been reading many inspirational blogs, e-books, and things of that sort that explain the concept of getting paid to do what you like. If you get paid to do what you like, I’m sure you will find it hard to differentiate when you are working or having fun. I don’t think it’s ever to late to start living your life. Age 59 1/2 is society’s set milestone for some. I refuse to follow it. I’m currently aspiring to retire at 35; most people say that’s crazy or unheard of though. If you think so, take a look at www.retireat21.com. It’s a site with interviews of top young entrepreneurs who are doing what they like and generally don’t have to work. Personally, I’m working towards building a passive income, which will provide the foundation for an early retirement.
Early retirement these days is an easy accomplishment in my eyes considering the opportunities that are out there. It boils down to leaving the incubator and your comfort zone so that you can be all you can be. As time progresses and you are reading this, I hope that one day you will be able to reflect back to this article and criticize it because it doesn’t apply to you. If you feel like you are in a situation that you can’t change, I say keep trying and I guarantee you will succeed in your endeavors, reasoning you are doing what you know best.
